Innkeeping in Paso Robles

May 10, Saturday
Well, we're on the road again to Paso, where we'll inn keep for Corinne and Marlowe again. We first got to celebrate Corinne's belated 60th- along with the families of Laura, Cindy, Tony, Steph, Todd, Tara and some local "wine" friends of C/M.
Tony had offered to make an Italian meal for everyone and its main stay was pizza...... Now, not just normal pizza, but many gourmet varieties of pizza cooked on a stone in a gas grill! Susie joined in with pasta and salad, it was really incredible. I (and you) really have to try it. Not only was it delicious, but truly unique. Matthew, Tony's son, manned the grill and did he ever do a great job!!! Way to go, Matthew...... and only in second grade!!

Its always a vacation for us up here- except for the early hours and that sheet thing........

For Mother's Day, we had yet another wonderful breakfast by Corinne and Marlowe, overlooking their vineyard. Once they packed and headed for Park City, Carol and I went to the Starks' for yet another great brunch with them and Cindy and Roque. With Natalie off at UC Santa Barbara, the boys did a magnificent job of helping with the brunch- Michael was the fruit sous chef, Willie made perfect basted eggs and Stevie won yet another computer game!!

After some great conversation, it was back to the Winemakers Porch for some final B&B cleanups, turning a few rooms around and at last some secluded rest.

meow.........

Saturday, May 3
So, I'm working in the garage and hear this terrible screeching. It turns out to be a baby cat stuck on top of our fence. Then it moves and it has this very short tail and I notice the hair tuffs on its ears. Then the mother jumps up and............... its no domestic cat!!!
I ran in and got the camera as you can see. There were two babies, one on top of the fence and one on the ground by our garden. The mother lead the one on the ground up the hill into the green space. She then came back and jumped on top of the fence again- and I got my pictures. The baby started to nurse and the mother shoved it off the top of the fence and up the hill they went.
A neighbor up the hill was saying, go help the baby get down.................... yeah, right!!!
Carol googled it and they were bobcats!!

Its a great day for a paddle

Sunday, April 27
This past weekend I joined my local kayaking club (WVKC) and camped, paddled and had a chili cook off on Lake Skinner.

It was beautiful and I've been wanting to get back on Skinner for months. We paddled Friday, Saturday and Sunday and it was great. I slipped off over by the reeds and saw about 2 dozen bass. Since I was so quiet, they even came out curiously as I slowly floated by. I'll have to go back and do some catch and release!!
