a weekend in the country with the Lorenzes

Friday, January 23

We had our good friends Larry and Sarah out for a long weekend. Besides teaching with them and doing AFT organizing together, we spend over ten years with them in Marriage Encounter.
Here we are hiking with them on the Santa Rosa Plateau at the vernal pools.
We also enjoyed some down home country music in the close setting of the "Merc" in downtown Temecula.

Here we're enjoying some of Corinne and Marlowe's five Bordeaux blend.
We even toured the museums of Diamond Valley reservoir. Here we're in front of a giant sloth.

We took our "country" walk, close to the house, and passed these long horns.
We also got to Winchester Cheese Co. and got some of their wonderful aged cheese.
It was a great visit with great friends!!

camping at San Clemente

Monday, January 5
We took off again at the beginning of the new year for some beach camping with Gary and Mel. We camped at San Clemente State Beach and it was gorgeous!!
Royce and Gina joined us for some of the time and of course, the guitars came out.

Here we are on San Clemente pier. We also walked down past to old "Western White House" from the Nixon era.

The sunsets and ocean views were beautiful- that's Catalina Island in the distance.....
