Over the other pond

March 24, 2007 Its Saturday night and we are anxious about tomorrow morning. We leave from Ontario, CA to San Francisco then off to Osaka, Japan with 6 sister city middle school students (actually 2 are in HS). We'll be in Daisen with host families for 6 days then back to Osaka for 6 days to do some touring and visiting. I hope to keep the blog up, if I can get to a computer (with an English keyboard?). If not, I'll catch up once home.

Lihue

March 1- Today we went into Lihue to the Kaua'i Museum and the Marriott Beach Club. We had lunch at Duke's on Kalapaki Beach and watched the surfers, canoes and sunbathers........

Back at the Waiohai, Carol and I enjoyed the sunset while Doug and Patty went off to another luau- this time at the Hyatt Grand and they loved it.

Follow that turtle.........

Feb. 28- As the bathing beauties kicked back, Doug and I had our work cut out for us- snorkling Poipu Beach (actually the water). There were great fish as always and even a turtle.

Tonight was our BIG night out- dinner at the Beach House. A setting that never quits.........

Just bumming around the island

Feb. 27- Today Doug and I rented a kayak and paddled up the Wailua River past the Fern Grotto (which is closed due to past heavy rains) to a trail that leads to a wonderful waterfall. I don't know the name of the waterfall but it's about a mile hike to its base and it's over 100' high. It was really great, but the water was cold!! Its the same waterfall that Marlowe and I got to last year.

I think a Menehune must have taken this picture of Doug and I kayaking.

Patty and Doug went to their first luau tonight.
