it's not the Pennsylvania trip we envisioned.....

We originally planned on going to PA for the month, including Paul and I fishing on the Outer Banks for a week, my 50th HS reunion, leaf peeping with Judy and Paul for a week each in Vermont and New Hampshire and some more time in Lititz where Judy and Paul live.

When we got here, Paul was in the hospital for chemo treatments for his recently diagnosed MDS- pre-leukemia. Once we arrived, he was released from the hospital to gain strength for a bone marrow transplant in a month. Sadly, Paul got a lung infection and with his low white blood count and weakened state, he couldn't fight it off. He will be dearly missed by all who have had the luck to have crossed his path. He was truly one of the good guys..........in every way.
If you follow this blog, you'll see that it is filled with great times we shared with Judy and Paul.

Paul had arranged to have his body  donated to science/ medical schools. My Dad also did this and beyond helping others, it gives a lot of family relief due to not having a viewing and funeral. I'm checking into this as soon as I return to So Cal.

They did have a celebration of life service at their church, where Judy will get a lot of support.

Paul's dad came in from Philly- he's 95.

An adult/ family church group came in to prepare the Millers' home for winter. They were really a great help- thanks.

The family stayed for the week.....everyone was joyful but still stunned.

Carol got to practice her braiding skills.

Your can only get pretzel trays around Philly......medium size- over 100 pcs.!!!

We got out and spent some time a Lititz Park.

We walked/ shopped Lititz.

And just hung out enjoying each others company.

painted toe nails.........

We went to Lancaster's Queen St. Farmers Market....
This is Megan's main form of transportation.... and exercise- and it was raining!!

We went to a Halloween violin concert- that's Lauren in the front right.

Meg made us some spring rolls.
there was always plenty of food.

Meg stopped over another time with the kids, showing off their new flashlights- getting ready for hurricane Sandy.

And we drove the country roads enjoying the fall colors.

Carol and I feel so fortunate to be here to help Judy with Paul's passing, figuring out what to do next and be here for support...............even with hurricane Sandy.
Life stops for no one.........love the ones you love.
