FINALLY OUR SECOND JAB !!!!!!

 It was back to Albertson's for our second vaccine shot of Moderna - what a beautiful So  Cal day !!!

No problems at all including today (the day after)

We even saw our good friends Richard & Donna going in as we were leaving......... back to some Pinochle pretty soon !!!!

Sugarplum Zoo- Sugarplum Farm, Temecula, CA

We went to the Sugarplum Zoo to drop off our old patio chair seat mats (with permission) for animals "beds". It's located out in the wine country where were used to live and we always like to help where we can........... and not fill up the "dump".

While Sugarplum is not the San Diego Zoo, it services a lot of local families (if they know about  it). It's a touching zoo in places and is especially popular with special needs classes (please call for arrangements).

The owner, Lani, rescues quite a few exotic (but not dangerous) animals from around the nation. She also specializes in high quality chocolates in her small store and even has a small outdoor luncheon area and menu with a marvelous view.

Look them up !!!!

Lake Guajome

We passed by this lake and San Diego County Park so many times while traveling to Oceanside and the ocean/ beach. This time we decided to just pull in and take a walk around the lake. It was very enjoyable and something we must do more of..............

Our outing this week is helping our friend,  Joan, get her first vaccine shot at Heritage HS in Menifee.

Joan is in her 80s, doesn't use a computer, "your  can't trust those things!",  no longer has a drivers license, recently lost her husband in a home to Covid 19 and went to China with us a few years back.

Well its back to Oceanside and an abbey we've passed many times.............

just stretching our legs and enjoying the views 

I guess it's been a while.........about 5 years !!!! Let's drop a few lines.

We are in the middle of the Covid 19 flu pandemic. Little was done by the past US presidential administration (Trump) and it has really put the country behind the 8 ball. Biden has set an aggressive policy to fight the pandemic and there finally seems to be light at the end of the tunnel.

Carol and I have basically been self quarantined for the last year (like many retired people as ourselves) and we've done little outside our home. The pic below is our first real venture out, which was a short day  trip to Oceanside, CA  to the ocean and areas where we have taken Dutch exchange students in the past. It was not much, but it was refreshing and something we will probably be doing weekly.............with masks and socially distanced, of course.

Speaking of that, we will be receiving our first "jab" Feb. 4 of the Covid vaccine dose #1 Moderna.........finally !! We are extremely happy about that.

It's a VW thing......................Beetle

 I sold the red Ghia-  it's on it's way back to Germany.

And I just bought this beautiful, 1959 ragtop Beetle. I really like it and look forward to learning "VW".

Vancouver

Vancouver, BC- the home of Univ. of British Columbia (UBC) and  our nephew Ben-
We spend an extra day in Vancouver after disembarking, so we could send time with Ben.
He was a great sport showing his "elder" aunties and uncle around- thanks, Ben

What's Victoria without Butchart Gardens, BC ??

Butchart was beautiful, but if you're ever on the East Coast, make sure to see Long Wood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA. It was part of the Du Pont Estate- wonderful !!!
