glass blower

Sept. 13, 2006 We started in Wertheim today saw many half timber houses. We also saw a special glass blower named Karl Ittig (for those who know my mother's side of the family- sound familiar??!!). Karl gave a great demonstration and is know internationally for his glass work.
In the afternoon, we had a great cruise with steep cliffs to look up at. About mid-day we stopped in Miltenberg, its called the "Pearl of the Main River". It really is special with its old German look.
I toured the town and walked steeply up this alley (you know me) and ended up outside the old town walls and protective gates. I was in a really old forest and walking up these cobble stone paths- the canapy of trees above me made it seem like I was lost- but centuries ago!! I ended up at an old castle which over looked the entire town and river- incredible........
I went through this other stone gate and started down another way; at first is was steep like the paths in Greece, then I ran into many half-timbered houses, though another gate and finally back into the main square with its fountain. Needless to say, I missed the group walking tour of Miltenberg.
After dinner, we were entertained by "La Strada"- three guys playing violin , viola and guitar. They played from classical to pop- again it was great.
I'll add the pics when I can- they should really be great.
