cruisin' the Wachau Valley

Sept. 7, 2006 This morning I was up early and enjoyed the misty morning on the Danube from the jacuzzi. Our first stop was the small town of Durnstein, a small, quaint town of winding, cobblestoned streets (actually most of them are). Above this town is a castle where King Richard the Lion-Hearted was once held captive after a crusade.
Next we cruised up the beautiful Wachau Valley which is known as one of Austria's most treasured winegrowing areas. The vineyards are terraced up the hills in all directions.
Finally we stopped in Melk and toured the famous Melk Abbey- it was quite a site.
