Smokey

Sept. 11, 2006 Today we cruised the Main (pronounced mine)- Danube Canal and at Bamberg it flowed into the River Main. There was a walking tour of Bamberg- as I finally caught up on our blog and sent pics out from an internet cafe. Carol bought more ear rings and a necklace for herself and a couple of Christmas presents.
In each small town, we have been trying their local sausages on rolls with saurkraut and mustard. In Bamberg we had our sausage with their local bier call Rauchbier. It is a dark bier with a very distinctive smokey flavor. It was guten/good.
That night after dinner, we were treated to a bier sampling along with an explanation on beer making and beer varieties.
(Fred won the first Pinochle tournament with such command that he wanted to travel to Las Vegas or maybe Monte Carlo !!)
