Day 4- Kyoto

Thursday morning found us on our way to Kyoto to visit the Fushimi-Inari shrine where we, again, cleansed our hands at a bamboo well.  The shrine is noted for the 10,000 orange torii gates that lead through a wooded path to the top of a hill.

After buying our lunches-to-go at a local bakery, we ate on the grounds of the Chionin Temple, which is one of the most sacred sights in Japan.  We were able to observe a Buddhism chanting experience in the Temple and then walk through the beautiful grounds and gardens.
