back to Thomaston

Oct. 2-7
It was good to get back to see Aaron, Michelle, et al......

We all went to the State Fair. It was like most fairs, but just a little more redneck!!

The smoking lamp is lite on the poop deck.........

I was fortunate enough to visit the woodturning studio of Philip and Matt Mouthrop. I first saw them turning at the home/ studio of Sam Maloff- a woodworker who is a living national tresure. Actually, Philip's father, Ed was the orginal family wood turner. Philip, a lawyer, now turns full time and is world known. His pieces are in the White House collection and so much more. Matt is a turner in his own right and has national recognition.
It was such a treat for me to spend an afternoon with them. As I'm starting to really get back into wood turning, it felt like I was on holy ground......

Here is some of turnings done by Philip- they certainly speak for themselves!!I'm still thrilled to the end of my gouge.........

Later in the week, on the way to the airport, we had a little time so we stopped for lunch at the Varsity in Atlanta. A place that must be experienced.......

What a fun trip. Did we ever w_ _ _?? Sorry, I can't bring myself to say that word anymore!!

We really had a nice time in Thomaston. We hope to do it yearly- if they'll have us!!
